The Indiana Fire Prevention & Building Safety Commission selected the 2006 International Plumbing Code to be used in Indiana. Their thoughts were that almost all of the other building codes in Indiana were already “I” or International codes and that all being from the same family, they should work well together.
The Commission then appointed a committee to go through the 2006 IPC line by line and make what ever changes that they feel are required. There are 15 voting members on this committee. The committee consists of representatives from many organizations. Lee Culver was selected to represent the Indiana Pipe Trades. All of this code revision procedure is open to the public. The meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9:00am—4-00pm Indy time at the Indiana Government Center. |

How Codes Get Revised in Indiana

Any Changes to the new code must be filled out on a certain form, with a fiscal impact and submitted by email 2 weeks prior to the next meeting date. The 1st section of the book pertains to law, and Indiana’s rules already override the book, therefore there will be no changes to chapter 1. |
We will be on chapter 6 in September. |

You can view the new code for free by clicking on either of the green code books above. |

If you see something missing, or that you don’t agree with, give me a call, or drop me an email and we will see what we can work out. Lee 219-942-7224 ualu210tc@airbaud.net |
